I bought this pad to place under the rug in my living room which has wood floors throughout. The padding gives my rug extra padding to make it soft when walking on it and the pad protects my floor. I cut the padding with a box cutting knife to .25 inch shorter than my rug on all sides. The padding cannot be seen and it makes my rug seem to float on the floor.
The only negative was that the rug pad shed at the edges, more so when I cut it to size. But it vacuumed up no problem. I recommend heavy duty fabric scissors or a very sharp blade to cut it.
I shopped around a bit in stores and online looking for a suitable rug pad. The main reason that I opted to buy this pad from this vendor was that when I emailed customer service requesting a sample of the padding, the lady promptly mailed me a small piece. None of the other online retailers I contacted were able to send a sample or even a better description of the product. So a small sample made the sale. Thank you for great customer service.

I use the pad under a custom made area rug from Ethan Allen, which is placed on a newly finished hardwood floor. I wanted a pad that would not scratch the finish on the floor, but would add loft and durability to the carpet. The pad worked out perfectly. It helped to speak directly with a sales rep before purchasing, he helped with the dimensions of the pad.
